Reducing Your Wife’s Stress During Twin Pregnancy When She Needs to Travel

Joe Rawlinson by Joe Rawlinson - September 21, 2013

Here is a question from Brent. He says that his biggest concern is his wife’s stress level, as she has several flights and trips coming up, and Brent is wondering how to alleviate the concern around travel and kind of a crazy schedule.

Stress Relief

Well, Brent, the first thing that you need to do is make sure your wife talks to her doctor about travel and really traveling safely during her pregnancy. Different doctors will have different recommendations. Of course, the earlier in the pregnancy, the safer it is to travel, and frankly the more comfortable your wife will be. When traveling, she will not be able to rest adequately and get her feet up. It will be a lot easier earlier in the pregnancy than later.

Traveling While Pregnant with Twins

Another thing to make travel easier is, once you get there, to make sure that mom is drinking plenty of water. Water is a woman’s best friend during pregnancy to stay healthy and help the baby stay healthy. And so when you travel, sometimes we get out of a routine and forget to drink water. Drinking plenty of water should be a priority during this upcoming travel and stressful time.

Also, when she’s traveling, make sure she takes time to get her feet up and to rest. When you travel you tend to be constantly on the go, and she’s going to need to set time aside to rest and get her feet up, and relax so she can help take care of herself and the babies. Whether it’s at the beginning of the day or the end of the day after she’s done with her business responsibilities, make sure she gets some rest.

Help Mom as She Travels

Another big thing you can do to reduce your wife’s stress level is to help with the preparations of the flight during the pregnancy. Take care of anything you can while she’s gone so things are in order when she gets back.

Some make a list of things that you can do to help her while she’s gone that will help her get ready for the twins. That will help alleviate some of the mental stress of having to juggle both business, work responsibilities, and preparations for the twins. If you can get things done that she thought she was going to have to do, that would be a huge relief for her.
